INTERNSHIP DETAILS

Under the Summer Undergraduate Research Grant for Excellence (SURGE) program, undergraduate students from IITK and other participating institutions undertake short duration, but focused research projects and push their intellectual abilities beyond those driven by the classroom. The duration of the programme is 08 weeks starting from 13 May, 2014 to 15 July, 2014. Students working at IITK receive a stipend. An award plus a commendation certificate is given to those SURGE students who produce exceptional quality research during the period

About the Internship:

The SURGE program of Summer 2014 has three different components:

1. Surge overseas program for IITK students :

In this program, IITK students are given a unique opportunity to spend 08 weeks of the summer at the prestigious universitiy. The University for SURGE 2014 is University of Melbourne and Melbourne School of Engineering.

2. Surge program for IITK students at IIT Kanpur:

In this program, IITK students are given an opportunity to work with a chosen mentor at IITK. In order to complete the application, it is necessary for the student to identify a professor who agrees to be his/her mentor during the summer period, and a suitable project to pursue for the 08 weeks in summer.

3. Surge program for Non IITK students at IIT Kanpur :

Under this program, Non-IITK students will be eligible to apply for summer project at IIT Kanpur. This year SURGE is open for all colleges.

Who can apply:

• For IITK students (Preference will be given to 3rd year students)
  B.Tech (2nd, 3rd year), 
  B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree (2nd, 3rd ), 
  M.Sc. (Integrated) 2nd, 3rd year
  M.Sc. (2yr) 1st year
  For Non-IITK students :
  B.Tech/BE (3rd year completed),
  B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree (3rd completed, 4th year completed)
  M.Sc. Integrated (3rd completed, 4th year completed)
  BSc./BA (3rd year completed)
  M.Sc./MA (1st year completed)
  M.Tech (1st year completed)
  M.Des (1st year completed)
